Highlighting the three-day horse festival, will be clinics taught daily by John Lyons. John's conditioned response methods teach "training without trauma" and overcoming problems and fears in horses. His methods put the rider in control with the horse willing to do whatever is asked. In the past decade, the popularity of John's method has mushroomed, and since 1988, John has held over 200 Symposiums in the United States, Canada and Australia, reaching more than 100,000 people. He's become one of the most recognized and well-respected horse trainers in the country.
Olympic Gold Medalist, Torrance Watkins, one of the premier three-day event riders in the world, will teach Jumping, Dressage and Three Day Eventing at the Expo. In 1980 she was the Bronze Medal winner at the Alternate Olympics in Fontainebleau, France and she was the first woman to receive an Olympic Medal in the sport of Three-Day Eventing. She has represented the United States in three World Championships, and in 1984 she was the only U.S. rider with clear cross-country and clear show jumping rounds in the Los Angeles Olympics. Torrance has also competed in numerous international events around the world, and in 1980 was named "U.S. Rider of the Year." Her experience as a competitor and an instructor have prepared her for knowing both sides of the cross-country equation: how to ask the questions and how to ride the answers.
Linda Tellington Jones will offer clinics in her unique and innovative technique called the Tellington-Touch Equine Awareness Method (TTEAM). TTEAM offers a training approach that encourages optimal health and performance, and presents solutions to common equine behavioral and physical problems. TTEAM has been used successfully with sore backs, stiffness, lameness, bucking, nervousness, tension, and trailering to name a few. TTEAM enables anyone to deepen their partnership with their horse and to improve the horse's behavior, health and temperament. Linda's work is used in more than 32 countries and she has authored nine books, published in ten languages.
Susan Harris will feature Centered Riding at The Greater Northwest Equine Expo. She is a Level IV Centered Riding Instructor/Clinician, having apprenticed with Sally Swift, the founder of Centered Riding. Susan teaches clinics on Centered Riding, Horse Gaits, Balance, and Movement across the United States and around the world. Susan has taught, trained, shown and prepared horses and riders for competition in many equestrian disciplines, including hunters, jumpers, dressage, equitation, eventing, western pleasure and performance, saddle seat, gaited horses and pleasure and versatility breeds. Susan is also an artist, and in her popular clinic presentation, The Visible Horse: Anatomy in Action, Susan actually paints bones and the muscle structure on a live horse to better illustrate the horse in motion.
Clinton Anderson is a native Australian, renowned for his remarkable ability to work with horses. Riders of all disciplines can learn how to produce extraordinary performances with their horses, using "Downunder Horsemanship". Clinton's method of working with horses replaces the customary force with choice. Throughout his sessions, there is a remarkable transformation in the horse, from stiff resistance to willing suppleness. He's conducted numerous horsemanship and training clinics throughout Australia and more recently in the United States. He has captured the attention of crowds at Equine Affaire and Equitana USA, drawing interest from horse enthusiasts from all disciplines.
The Greater Northwest Equine Expo is presented by owners John and Judith Anne Cloe, who have extensive experience in equine event administration. Sponsors for the event include Sundowner Trailers, Allegra Horse Food, Coastal Farm & Home Supply, and Ride! Magazine.
