PAINT SPOTS - FEBRUARY 2000
by Jeri StoneAs I sit here writing 'Paint Spots' for February I have to think our winter is here. It has been snowing and it is white and very beautiful out right now. But I must say now that it is here it can go and not come back for another year or until I am over in New Zealand. And when you read this hopefully that is where I will be.
The Northwest Coordinating Committee Banquet and meeting as well as the Zone One meetings were held in December and February and the following are the 2000 Officers for each group. Zone One Representative Council Officers are: Chairperson - Ed Clark, Vice Chairperson - Teresa Chandler, Secretary - Jeri Stone and Treasurer - Pam Hollenbeck.. The Northwest Coordinating Council Officers are: Chairperson - Cheryl Bains, Vice Chairperson - Traci Olney, Secretary - Kristi Stone and Treasurer - Ed Clark. Congratulations to all these new officers who have taken on a tremendous job this year. Let us all put the past in the past and give these people all our help and support for 2000.
The Paint Horse World recently lost a very valued member - Ken Smith of Alberta, Canada recently passed away. Ken made enormous contributions to the Paint Horse industry as well as to the Alberta Paint Horse Club and effected the lives of all who knew him. Our condolences to his wife Lynda, his family and loved ones.
We would like to wish a speedy recovery to Kearney Hammer, who recently suffered a heart attack but is on the mend, to Linda Phillips grandmother and to Julie Lobban, who will have surgery on her arm shortly. Remember a card, note or e-mail to these people would make their recovery time feel shorter.
Woodstock Paint Horses, Rick and Tina Wood's, lost their APHA Champion mare, Tommy Go Lucky by Scotch Bar Tommy, to a twisted intestine. She was in foal to their Res. World Champion stallion, Woodstock Sunny McZip.
Because of space I cannot list the new babies that are being born this year but I will say the first Millennium 2000 baby (1-2-2000) that I have heard about was a BS filly by Mr Tenacity and out of CA Feature Cutie and owned by LaNay Hambrook.
Rick and Tina Woods of Lewiston, Idaho are expecting a "human baby" in April. This wonderful event has put a hold on their stallion's, Woodstock Sunny McZip, show season but it is well worth it.
