Horse & Habit 1st Annual Showtime Seminar
Horse & Habit, Inc. held their 1st Annual Showtime Seminar on February 17, 1996 at the Shilo Inn, Spokane. The seminar started at 9:30am and ended at 5pm. During this time 4 disciplines were covered: Hunt, Dressage, Saddle Seat & Western Pleasure.HUNT (on flat or over fences) was presented by Nancy Greene of Brass Ring Farms, E. 27009 112th Street, Buckley, WA 98321. 360/829-9181. Nancy went over the legal attire for a Hunter & Jumper, from shirts, boots, colors, coats, fit, helmets to hair & makeup.
DRESSAGE was presented by Jennifer Bohlman-Smith of Marshal Equestrian Center, 509/448-0681. Jennifer covered the topics that ranged from Training Level attire to 4th Level attire. Covering all the areas from stock tie & shirt, breeches, boots, accessories (gloves, whip, hat style etc.) to your horses appearance (mane & tail braiding).
SADDLE SEAT was presented by Karen Avichouser of Avichouser Training Stables, 509/448-6365. Karen covered hair & makeup; Saddle seat apparel, the problem areas & clothing from coats, pants, hats to your shape. She also went over the type of attire that's appropriate for morning, afternoon, evening & championship; formal vs informal attire.
WESTERN PLEASURE was presented by Diane Bettcher. Diane covered the areas ranging from catching the judge's eye in local, regional & national competitions; using your horse's color as a back drop for your outfits to your personal appearance (boots, hats & chaps). She covered the western disciplines of: Halter, Trail, Showmanship, Horsemanship & Western Pleasure, discussing what's legal for your breed, class & level of competition.
All of the speakers gave wonderful information & tips with the help of their models, demostrating proper dress & typical problem areas that are seen at all levels of competition from 4-H/ youth to the Nationals.
