Youth of the Month: Brian Runcorn

Brian Runcorn, an 18 year old Senior at Post Falls High, lives with his mother Sandy Runcorn and brother, Jeff, in Post Falls, Idaho.

Brian is active in the horse industry as a competitor in `Reining', and now as a `Reining horse' breeder.

Brian has been in the Northwest Rangers 4-H club for 9 years, showing cattle, swine and horses. He has been involved in showing `Reining Horses' for the last 4 years. He and his mare `Bandos Jubilena', have competed successfully in 4-H, Buckskin Association, Washington Reining Horse Association, Reining Horse Association of the Northwest and National Reining Horse Association for year end Championships and Reserve Championships. He also qualified for and competed at the NRHA Affiliate Championship Show in Scotsdale, Arizona where he placed second in youth.

Due to some arthritis problems with his good mare `Lena', Brian has decided to retire her from the show pen and begin a new career producing future Reining Champions. He currently has `Lena' at the Bryant Ranch being bred to World Champion `Smart Little Calboy'.

Brian has borrowed a gelding to finish his last year as a youth competitor. `CJ' and Brian will have their first competition the end of April at the `Cody Saddle Classic' in Billings, Montana. They are working hard to become a competitive team and hopefully repeat the 1993 Youth Championship at the event.

I have pleasure in taking this opportunity to congratulate and wish continued success to one of the Northwest's most outstanding youth citizens, Brian Runcorn.

- Scott Seeklander

Congratulations to Brian Runcorn, Horse Previews "Youth of the Month"
