QUARTER HORSE STALLIONS
BLAZING HOT: Never in the history of the AQHA World Show has any horse won both the Jr. Western Riding and Jr. Western Pleasure in the same year...until now! Wishing Star has been blessed by Robbi and Joan Schroeder in wanting to make dreams become a reality for Wishing Star children by donating a service to their 1996 World Champion Jr. Western Pleasure & Jr. Western Riding stallion, "Blazing Hot." Besides being an AQHA two-time World Champion, he was the 1994 Quarter Horse Congress Two Year Old Western Pleasure Futurity Champion (unanimous decision); 1995 Congress Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure Derby Champion, Three Year Old Ltd. Western Pleasure Derby Champion, and Congress Jr. Western Pleasure Reserve Champion. Showing (1) time in 1994, (11) times in 1995, and (8) times in 1996, "Blazing Hot" has earned nearly 100 AQHA points in Jr. Western Pleasure, 16 AQHA points in Jr. Western Riding, plus he has 2.5 Halter points. He is sired by "Hotrodders Jet Set," out of a "Zippo Pine Bar" daughter, "Tahnee Zippo." This Superior Western Pleasure 15.3 HH bay stallion comes from a family pedigree of "pure pleasure horses." The last three generations on his dams side alone have all produced Superior Western Pleasure Horses. "Blazing Hot's" grandam and great - granddam also earned a Superior in Western Pleasure. When you consider his pedigree...it's second to none!! This service will be only one of two donated services to "Blazing Hot" for the 1998 season. He presently stands for $1,750 at Schroeder Ranch in Gainesville, Texas. Transported semen will not be available. PEPPY BADGER CHEX: Back once again in our 1997 Gallop line-up is two-time AQHA World Champion - "Peppy Badger Chex." He was a World Champion Junior Reining Horse in 1989, 1992 World Champion Senior Working Cow Horse - Top 5, and earned an additional World Championship title as the 1993 Sr. Working Cow Horse. In addition to his second World Championship, "Peppy Badger Chex," was the Bronze Trophy winner of the 1993 NRHA Reno Spectacular in Reining, and NRHA & PRHA Super Slide Bronze trophy winner! His offspring are proving what tremendous reining potential he produces! They have won the PRHA Superslide. The Top three winners were all "Peppy" offspring. "Peppys Doc An Tuck" was the 1995 NRHA Open Futurity Finalist, 11th place, and 1996 Americana Reining Champion. At the 1996 AQHA World Show, "Wright A Chex" won the Reserve World Champion Junior Working Cow Horse title. One of the most sought after breeding stallions in the Industry, for the past four breeding seasons, his book has been closed barely before Spring begins. Wishing Star is indebted to Jim & Sondra Wright and Pam Whittaker for once again supporting our cause and bringing some light in to the lives of others less fortunate. "Peppy Badger Chex" is presently standing in Yamhill, Oregon for a breeding fee of $2,000. Transported semen is available. LEAN WITH ME: A champion of Champions. Shortly after being titled the 1993 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Reserve Champion, "Lean With Me" suffered a near fatal injury of a fractured pelvis that almost ended his career. With God's blessings, a great trainer (Bobby Avila), and the love and prayers of his owners and admirers, "Lean With Me" beat all the odds and came from a cripple to a champion making his mark in the AQHA Industry. In 1994 he returned to the show ring competing in the Bruce Gilcrest Memorial Futurity winning the OQHA Reining Championship. From there it was on to the AQHA World Show, where he earned his first AQHA World Championship in Junior Working Cow Horse. He wasn't through winning. In 1995, he returned - once again - to win the OQHA Reining Championship; earned an AQHA Superior in Reining; won the prestigious NRHA Derby; and returned to the AQHA World Show to gain another title as the "1995 AQHA World Champion Senior Reining Horse." Now retired, "Lean With Me" stands in Oregon. "He's accomplished so much, there's really nothing left for him to win," commented Bobby Avila. This two-time World Champion will stand the 1998 breeding season at Bryant Ranch in Yamhill, Oregon for a stud fee between $2,500 and $3,000. Transported semen is available. Sharing with you Wishing Star's mission, this month Gallop Coordinator Barbara Turner shares with you some wishes currently being done by the Wishing Star Foundation. "Hi everyone! Being involved in the horse industry and with Wishing Star, many of you approach me with questions about Wishing Star, wishes and our children. Our wish kids are referred to us from lots of places and people. Neighbors, teachers, physicians, family, nurses, and friends, all have referred children with life threatening illnesses to Wishing Star. Often the child's family knows the referral, but we get anonymous referrals too. When a child is referred, Wishing Star contacts the family to see if they are interested in a wish. In sharing - only a few - of these "wishes,"' keep in mind that those of you who participate at this years Gallop as a spectator, sponsor, booth exhibitor, stallion owner or committee member will help to make these wishes a reality. Be very proud of yourselves!"

With Sincere Sympathy.... 14-year-old Meagan lost her battle with Cancer in March. She received her wish in October of 1994 for horse vaulting lessons. 4-year-old Nick died May 17th of Cancer. We lost Nick before his wish visit. "I wanted to thank so many of you in the industry for helping Keith's Quarter Horse wish come true. We completed his wish at the end of April when I delivered his horse to his home in Troy, MT. Indiana Harness dressed Keith up with a new pair of jeans, a Brooks & Dun Western Shirt, and Stetson Straw Hat. HAV Western Wear fitted him up with a new pair of lace up boots. Aslin-Finch made sure he had all new grooming aids along with a water bucket and salt block. True Hibbard made sure he had a ton of good hay at the worse time possible to find it; and Rich & Arlie Sylvester made sure Keith's Quarter Horse mare had a place to stay for the five weeks we waited to deliver her due to bad weather up in Montana. All of these people donated all of these things to make this child's wish special. I thank all of you horse hunters who helped to find a suitable match for Keith. Thank you Cliff Kellmer for leading us to the final one chosen. You were right, she was perfect! Thank you Cristen for working with us on the horse and tack; and Bruce Amoth for the availability of additional hay. On the day of the wish...by the time Keith arrived back home with his Dad, I had unloaded and settled her in. Keith was so excited! Then it started raining, so we put her inside the barn. He couldn't wait to get on her. We showed him how to saddle and tack her up...lead her for a short time...then he was off riding around the inside of the barn. I wish you all could have seen his face when he first laid eyes on her. "Thank you" to all who were involved with this wish. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful our horse industry people are! For this 12-year-old boy who suffers from Acute Myelocytic Leukemia, a life time dream became a reality!!" HOW CAN YOU HELP IN WISHING STAR'S MISSION? That is a question we are asked by many people and their are a number of ways. One is financially. It is a constant battle to raise the money to get the Wishes done as quickly as possible. Another is to become a Wishing Star volunteer. Give some of your time. We have a number of people who volunteer through our office in Spokane and we can always use more. We also have chapters made up of volunteers in a number of communities where extra help is always needed. Those chapters serve the following areas: 1. Lewiston, ID./Clarkston, WA. 2. Moscow, ID./Pullman, WA. 3. Magic Valley/Twin Falls, ID. 4. Weiser/Payette, ID. 5. Coeur d'Alene, ID. 6. Boise/Treasure Valley, ID. 7. Tri-Cities, WA. 8. Yakima, WA. 9. Wenatchee, WA. 10. Sandpoint, ID. If you are interested in volunteering in one of these areas or need more information, call us at 509-744-3411. Give the greatest gift, help a child's dream, come true. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Wishing Star Gallop Stallion Service Auction on Saturday, August 16th!
Sincerely, Barbara J.Turner
