You Can Earn Awards By Just Riding Your Horse!
Moscow, ID.- Yes it's true, the Saddle Log Program is a way for you to earn chevrons (patches) for any time you spend in the saddle of an Appaloosa Horse.
This system recognizes the need for personal achievement for the individual who daily or weekly enjoys the benefits gained from riding- whether it be on the trails, training for and competing in shows, parades, ranch work, etc. Any type of riding counts.
On an honor system, each rider will keep his "saddle log time" (actual hours spent riding). The rider is not required to own his own horse but all horses used must be registered Appaloosas, and can include breeding stock Appaloosas. The riding time is kept on an official saddle log provided by and available from the ApHC. The ApHC also offers a Handicapped Riders and Drivers Program which follows the same rules as the Saddle Log Program.
Pictured in 20,000-year-old cave drawings and bred by the Nez Perce Indians of the Northwest, Appaloosas are known for their agility, intelligence, and colorful coat patterns. This versatile breed excels in a variety of events, and many owners like their even temperament and reliability as family mounts.
The Appaloosa Horse Club, situated in Moscow, Idaho has been dedicated to preserving, improving, promoting, and enhancing the Appaloosa breed since 1938.
